Kullu is a picturesque valley nestled between the Beas River and the majestic Himalayas. It offers scenic views of snow-clad mountains, towering Pine and Deodar forests, gushing rivers and exquisite apple orchards. Kullu was the home of Lord Raghunath Ji – the presiding deity of the area and is hence referred to as the ‘Valley of the Gods. It has many pilgrimage sites for Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists. The people here have a rich cultural heritage, and their traditional customs are evident in all of their ceremonies, especially the famous seven-day festival of Kullu Dussehra. The valley is famous for adventure activities like rafting, mountaineering, paragliding, and trekking. It is also well-known for its temples, parks and hot springs. Kullu houses The Great Himalayan National Park where one can see rare and beautiful animals like the brown bear, snow leopards, tigers, Khalij Cheer and a variety of Himalayan birds. A visit to the village Vashist is a must to take a dip in its natural sulphur springs. Some of the things to shop during your visit would be the delicious apple jam made fresh in the orchards, woolen items like clothing, shawls, hats, blankets and even slippers, local pickles, dry fruits and more.
